top of page

Our 1/2” wire rope clips are malleable iron zinc plated. All nuts are regular hex type for easy installation and removal. When using cable clamp clips, extreme care must be exercised to make certain that they are attached correctly. The U bolt must be applied so that the “U” section is in contact with the dead end of the rope. Malleable clips are to be used for making eye termination assemblies with the right regular lay wire rope, and are only for light duty uses with small applied loads, such as hand rails, fencing, guard rails, etc.

  • Trade Size: 1/2"
  • Tightening Torque (Ft/Lbs.): 45
  • Minimum Number Clips Required: 4
  • Dead End Turn Back: 15 1/4"
  • Weight (Lbs./ea): .37

NOTE: MALLEABLE CLIPS ARE NOT DESIGNED FOR OVERHEAD LIFTING.

  • Double the wire rope around a wire rope thimble of the appropriate size, making sure that the "dead end turn back" is at least as long as shown.
  • Place the first clip at least as far from dead end of the cable as the width of the clip base, with the U-bolt part of the clip securing  the dead end of the wire rope. Nuts should be tighten equally to the torque values shown in the clips features below.
  • The second clip should be placed as close to the thimble as possible. If additional clips are required (see clips features for recommendations) space them evenly between the first two.
  • Tighten all clips to the recommended torque value, making sure that there is no slack in the wire rope between the clips.
  • WARNING: When a load is first applied to this assembly the nuts must be re-tightened to the torque values shown. To maintain the assembly in safe working order nuts should be checked regularly and re-tightened as needed.
